UNISIA JECS S15 Silvia JGTC 2002 [Ebbro 44887]

$120.00 / Sold Out

Ebbro 1/43 scale resin version of the UNISIA JECS Silvia which competed in the 2002 season of the All Japan Grand Touring Championship series.

"The S15 base had been in use for JGTC since 1999, with entries coming from NISMO and Team DAISHIN. In late 2000, a new additional chassis was created to debut at the championship series in the following season. NISMO literally built a new S15 GT300 chassis specifically for Masahiro Hasemi from the famed Hasemi Motorsports
.
While the other two S15 GT300 chassis' from that time carried some similarities, this one had some important differences. For example, this S15 featured a rear-end axle coming directly from the GT-R GT500, and it was also the first SR20 engine with the new VVL system derived from the Xtrail GT. It should be noted that all S15 GT300 competitors started with engines that had been stroked to 2.2L, but at some point, due to weight handicap regulations, power and reliability reasons, they returned to standard 2.0L. The UNISIA JECS S15 also had the X-Trac sequential 6-speed gearbox, MacPherson strut suspension in the front and GT500 style, double-wishbone in the rear.

For 2001, the car was driven by Yuji Ide and future two-time GT500 champion Masataka Yanagida. The S15 was one of strongest cars from the GT300 class finishing with three podiums in 2nd, but ultimately ended in 4th in the overall drivers ranking. The teams that finished ahead of them were RE Amemiya, 910 Racing, and the sister S15 from Team DAISHIN. The DAISHIN Silvia would serve to be the more-successful S-chassis that season, winning the GT300 Driver's Championship.

Hasemi's Silvia would make its last appearance during the 2002 JGTC season with Tetsuya Yamano replacing Yuji Ide. The car won round 3 at SUGO, went on to podium yet again, and finished the 2002 season with enough points to place 3rd overall in final standings for the Drivers Championship and 4th in the Team Championship."

This is one of the rarest of the rare when it comes to Ebbro models. The Daishin S15, it's literal twin in real life, is even more hard to find.
